Arts and Sciences

Are you interested in how things were made, built, performed, cooked, or otherwise done in the medieval period or before? The SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) covers a broad range of skills and crafts that were practiced in the 16th century and before. There is space here for you to show off your historical clothing project at an event, explore the origins of theater, prepare (or eat) a meal straight out of the pages of a medieval cookery manuscript, take up blacksmithing, and so much more. If it was being done pre-1600 CE, the SCA likely has someone who recreates it now.

While many of these activities are on display at regional events, the Shire of Depedale also regularly holds classes in and around Douglas County, GA on a range of skills and crafts from the middle ages. Classes are free and open to the public unless otherwise noted.
